PARACHUTING FOR CHARITY
Brigadier
Peter Stewart-Richardson's daughter, Janie and Roddy Jones completed
their tandem free-fall parachute jump for the Afghan Mother &
Child Rescue Charity on 5 July'04. This event was due to take place
on Roddy's 70th birthday on 29.4.04 but was postponed due to bad
weather. Monday 5 July turned out sunny with white cloud and blue
sky so it was possible to do our jump in the afternoon.
We
would both like to thank very sincerely the officers and members
of the Sultan's Armed Forces, the Trucial Oman Scouts and the Royal
Welch Fusiliers along with numerous individuals, relatives and friends
who contributed so generously. These donations have to date reached
the sum of £13,000.
This
very large sum will enable us to build and subsidise two or three
more bakeries in the Panjsher valley thus employing another 10 to
15 widows or needy women.
Pictures of the two pilot project bakeries, which have now been
running for 6 months are here on this page.
Again
thank you all very much indeed for your generous support.
